the Risley family

Happy Easter all! Hope you are enjoying the weekend with friends and family! We are enjoying a beautiful day on the central coast bouncing here and there to different family functions. While we have a nap break for the littles I finally get a moment to write this post about the wonderful Risley family!

I met Chris and Sarah Risley several years ago through a mutual friend and immediately bonded with them as they have such a fun chill vibe to them. My husband and Chris have bonded over military experiences and now our children are pretty close in age which is great to have playdates! Both children and adult! 

They asked me when their second child Calvin was born to do pictures of them and I graciously accepted! We went to Pismo Beach recently and it was so fun as they always have smiley faces and even though they think their poses are silly it somehow always works out to look good! It helps they are pretty photogenic.

Newborn Session - Sweet Baby Luke

Ashley and I have known each other since first grade. FIRST GRADE!! I even remember the first time we met. This bold girl with beautiful blondish hair runs up to me and challenges me to a foot race. I won. (If you ask her she will say she won.) But I won. 

I won in the fact that I have had this lifelong friend that we grew up around the corner from each other, spent countless hours walking our dogs, riding bikes, being silly girls and were so completely different. 

I was the social butterfly that couldn't decide what to do with myself and always in trouble, I still am like that as I have like four jobs (mom, photographer, writer, cattle rancher) and love bouncing back and forth; and Ashley was the good student and knew she wanted to be a teacher her entire life and that's what she does. 

When I found out I was pregnant with my first child I was so excited to finally call her and let her know - and to my surprise she was pregnant too! Our due dates were so close and our sons are a month apart!

Even though we live a few hours away from each other our boys love spending time together and hopefully they will stay lifelong friends as we have. (We will make them!) 

I was halfway through my second pregnancy with my daughter and Ashley called to say she was expecting again as well! Two weeks ago they welcomed their second son Luke! I was so tickled when she asked me to take photos of her boys I jumped at the chance!

Welcome to the world little Luke! Can't wait to see you grow up you have the best mom and dad and big brother! 

wildflower boudoir

This year has been unseasonably warm. The drought, while it wreaks havoc on my heart because the pastures are already turning brown and it's only the middle of March - as a cattle rancher it sucks - but as a photographer it has brought out so many wildflowers I couldn't contain myself and had to find a spot to shoot. 

These are called Shooting Stars and they were seriously everywhere!!

My great amazing friend Rachael Manuele is the owner of Eden Floral made a flower crown for me and I got my gorgeous sister in law Amber to model for me.
